Planning for Disaster Response, Recovery and Risk Management: Introduction to HAZUS-MH for Local Decision Makers

Combining lectures and hands-on exercises, this workshop will introduce participants to the multiple uses of HAZUS-Multihazards (HAZUS-MH).  This software is a free ArcGIS extension developed by FEMA to help community leaders understand the potential losses that might occur in their area from earthquakes, floods, and hurricane winds.  Using laptops and software provided by ESRI, participants will explore realistic disaster scenarios and learn how HAZUS-MH can improve planning for hazard mitigation, response, recovery, and risk management. Space in this workshop is limited. Pre-registration is required. Please check onsite at Restoration 2006 to see if room is available at this important workshop.

This workshop will help organizations go through a step-by-step process identifying all possible interruptions that could occur and will learn how to minimize these interruptions in the event of a man-made or natural disaster. In addition to registering for Restoration 2006, you must register for the COOP planning workshop. There is no additional cost to attend the workshop.
