Book Distribution with The National Education Association, May 18, 9:00 am - 11:00 am
The National Education Association, in cooperation with the Louisiana Association of Educators, will sponsor a book reading and distribution program for students at the St. Bernard Unified School in Chalmette, La., on Thursday, May 18 from 9:00 am until 11:00 am. Restoration 2006 conference participants are invited to participate in NEA’s Books Across America, a new initiative designed to bring books to public school libraries and children in need. In this inaugural year, Books Across America will be focusing its efforts on Gulf Coast public schools devastated by hurricanes Katrina, Rita and Wilma. Participants will read with children and help distribute books to restock the school’s library during the event.

In the coming year, NOAHH plans on building hundreds of new homes in Orleans, Jefferson, and St. Bernard parishes.
